As many people know, especially those connected with bees, throughout the world billions of bees are mysteriously dying. They are simply flying away from their hives and disappearing, a phenomenon called colony collapse disorder or CCD. Bee predators, looking for pollen or honey, even refrain from pilfering abandoned CCD-affected hives.

Deep Green Reflections for a sustainable Future

I was less than keen when fellow green campaigners asked me to sign petitions and attend rallies to try to halt the construction of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (Hong Kong Section) (hereafter XRL). After all, such a Save the Choi Yuen Village Battle could well be another not-in-my-backyard battle on the part of the local villagers and their sympathizers who cannot wait to pick up green issues to harass our government. Re-routing the proposed line would mean higher construction cost, further delays, and destroying another village.

Bella Ip describes her remarkable life story, from growing up in the concrete jungle of Hong Kong, to sailing the Pacific for 3 years, and now to making organic products and running her soap business.

There is an area of trash in the Pacific Ocean, called the "Plastic Vortex" which has estimates of over 4,000,000 tons of plastic waste. This is almost four times the size of Japan, and over 1,000 times the size of Hong Kong.  It has been there since we started making plastics, because plastics do not go away.
